BFF Launches Symposium Tour to promote Theatrical Release of 2015 Winning Films

GEENA DAVIS’ BENTONVILLE FILM FESTIVAL AND THE BFF FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE SYMPOSIUM TOUR PROMOTING THEATRICAL RELEASE OF 2015 WINNING FILMS

(BENTONVILLE, AR) –After a successful inaugural festival in May, The Bentonville Film Festival (BFF) is proud to announce that three of the winning films that received guaranteed distribution deals through ARC Entertainment will be released in AMC Theatres’ AMC Independent locations beginning in October.

“AMC’s partnership with the Bentonville Film Festival is a perfect complement to our AMC Independent programming initiative, which delivers unique stories and voices that represent and resonate with our diverse guest base around the country,” said Nikkole Denson-Randolph, vice president of Alternative & Special Content for AMC. “We’re excited and proud to deliver these powerful stories to our guests and to provide a platform for women and minority filmmakers.”

The BFF initiative has emerged as a commercial platform fueled by its partnerships with founding sponsor Walmart, presenting sponsor Coca-Cola and distribution partners AMC Theatres and Lifetime. This platform provides a commercial option for women and diverse storytellers to share their works with a national audience.

In addition to securing the theatrical release, the BFF Foundation, which provides educational resources for aspiring artists who align with the festival’s mission of championing women and diverse voices in media, will be taking these filmmakers and talent on a national Symposium Tour to promote the winning films.

“We’re so proud of the 2015 BFF winning films and are excited to take all of this talent on our Symposium Tour! We’re bringing together the creative minds behind the scenes of our films to create a truly educational and interactive experience,” said Academy Award-Winning Actor and Co-Founder of the Bentonville Film Festival Geena Davis.

The Symposium tour will kick-off on October 9th when 2015 Documentary Winner “IN MY FATHERS HOUSE,” a deeply personal story about fatherhood and redemption, is released through AMC locations in 20 markets across the country. BFF will hold Panel discussions in Atlanta and NYC with Emmy nominated Directors Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, as well as Grammy and Academy Award winning writer and artist Che “Rhymefest’ Smith, the subject of the film. “We will connect with students and audiences as well the African American Film Critics Association and the My Brothers Keeper organization to leverage support for this wonderful, unique story that explores identity and legacy in an African American family,” said festival co-founder Trevor Drinkwater.

BFF Audience Award Winner “THAO’S LIBRARY” will be released on October 16, 2015 at AMC locations in 20 markets. Panel discussions will be held in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco with filmmaker Elizabeth Van Meter. “THAO’S LIBRARY” centers on the unlikely but heartwarming friendship between Thao, a 24-year old Vietnamese woman and Elizabeth Van Meter who are brought together to reflect on the painful past and deal with the present, forging a bond that will eventually change both their lives forever.

Jury Award Winner for Best Narrative “JACK OF THE RED HEARTS” which centers on a teenage con artist who tricks a desperate mother into hiring her as a live-in companion for her autistic daughter will be released on December 4, 2015 at AMC locations in 25 markets.
